Vista, like changing my socks

September 3rd, 2007

You all know that feeling.  Fresh out of the bag, labeled “Hanes”, the fresh aroma of cotton fills your nostrils.  You slip on a brand new mit from the plastic sack and a feeling of comfort and relaxation rolls down your spine.  It isn’t like sitting behind the wheel on your first drive to work in new wheels but it still feels pretty good.

That is my experience with Vista.  Good ole XP has run thin with a few too many holes.  Vista is a tight stretch over my fuzzy foot, hard to get used to the firm unstretched fabric at times but overall, a good experience.  And, same with the purchase of undergarmets, my biggest reaction is: Finally, why did I wait so damn long.

I can’t say I really got excited about the new features of Vista but I certainly wasn’t completely neutral either.  It just felt like something that was necessary after many years with the same ole collection of smelly tubes.

Anyway…  That’s my take so far.  I have yet to take advantage of DX10 but the other odds and ends that were long missing (or privided via 3rd-party) are mostly expected this time, rather than innovative.
